Concert Featuring Works by Cypriot Female Composers

Dona Amyrotou premiered her first piece ‘Bridges’ on 12th of June 2024, at a concert dedicated to works by Cypriot female composers. She premiered her piece with Ioulios Georgakopoulos on percussion and her on marimba. This project was part of the final action (in Cyprus) of the European program “Musical Bounce Back: Promoting the Role of Women in Music and Connecting for a new Pedagogy” a project that Dona also attended and performed with as a percussionist in Athens (October 2023).

The piece is connected with 3 themes and 3 bridges that give the performers the freedom to play each theme as long as they like and to loop the piece as many times they desire. Bridges is a piece that aims to help performers develop their improvisation skills by gradually developing and building their themes through repetition. In this performance the themes were performed only once.
